VENINI

Lighting Design

Since 2008 Alberto Biagetti has worked closely with world renowned Murano glass masters Venini, to create a series of lighting solutions that combine the ancient art of artistic glass blowing and contemporary design.

Maddalena

“The slender Maddalena lamp was designed especially for Venini and divides space with a luminous ray like a slot of light. The ice-like glass body seems to melt away, letting us glimpse a mirror-finish metal frame and a luminous heart that turns red at the top like a glass candle. Compositions can be made from lamps of different heights to create a little forest of light, a place where troubles can be lost and serenity found – every home should have one! Glass is an ancient material and full of mystery. Even today we still don’t fully understand its true nature, perhaps because we are distracted by its glitter, or perhaps because it reflects our gaze, and self confrontation is never easy. Glass is transparent yet impenetrable. It has its own colours and a unique ability to control light. We find its fragility fascinating every time we look at it.”

The three Maddalena floor lamps vary in height from 160 to 210cm (62.99″-102″). The light source of all three versions is 15W led with dimmer switch and the pieces are available with brass or copper metallic finishes on a chromed base.

Maddalena is also produced as a ceiling light in two different standard lengths: 200cm (78″) and 150cm (59″)

The Edi Collection

Venini reinvents the lightbulb but this time the creator is Alberto Biagetti not Thomas Alva Edison, with his own personal interpretation of perhaps the only object that has ever truly given us happiness. The light bulb must be the most spectacular thing ever invented. Those little flares of light, protected by a thin veil of glass have allowed us, with just a simple touch, to walk out of the darkness, making our days longer, illuminating our houses and cities, giving a warmer, more romantic and seductive glow to all things around us. “Edi” is a collection of lights conceived and designed as real light bulbs. The source of light, which in the traditional bulb is the filament, has been turned into a unique glass artwork. The fusion of polichrome canes that stand erect within the glass case glow tantalizingly and soften the tones of the led light.

The Edi Collection is available in two distinct versions: Edi has a round crystal shade that contains the coloured glass canes mounted on a white metal stand whereas Edi Model 1 has a cylindrical crystal shade around the coloured glass canes mounted on an opaque brass coloured metal base.

Il Corpo Celeste

“These little lights, that come on at night as if they were a host of colourful eyes opening to see in the dark, are like terrestrial stars that draw the constellations and cosmic maps in which to get lost in, to remind yourself that infinity, is infinitely small.”
